SPECULATIVE FICTION BOOK COACH

WHAT IS A BOOK COACH?
A book coach helps writers bring their worlds to life—one idea, one scene, one breakthrough at a time. Think of us as your creative co-pilot: part editor, part mentor, and part strategist. We guide you from the spark of an idea to a finished, well-crafted story, blending the mechanics of storytelling with the imagination that drives it.
Unlike traditional editors who step in after the writing is done, we book coaches work beside you through every stage of the process—from concept to completion—helping you clarify your story, strengthen your craft, and build something powerful, purposeful, and uniquely yours.
As a speculative-fiction book coach, I work with writers who dream beyond the ordinary—those building worlds, weaving myth, and bending reality. Together, we’ll create structure without stifling creativity, develop your story’s emotional core, and keep you accountable so the story that lives in your head finally becomes the one that lives on the page.
As an Author Accelerator-certified fiction book coach, I’m trained to guide you from concept to completion using proven frameworks and personalised feedback—so you can write with confidence, purpose, and joy, and craft a story you’re truly proud of.
WHAT IS SPECULATIVE FICTION?
Speculative fiction is a broad literary genre that explores “what if…?” scenarios beyond the boundaries of everyday reality. It encompasses stories that imagine worlds, futures, or realities that differ from our own—asking readers to consider possibilities that lie outside the familiar.
In simple terms, reality exists inside a box; anything that steps outside that box becomes speculative. This includes the following genres, all of which challenge or expand upon the known rules of the world:
Science Fiction: grounded in technology, science, or futuristic speculation (e.g., Dune, Star Wars).
Fantasy: built around magic, myth, or otherworldly realms (e.g., The Lord of the Rings, The Stormlight Archive).
Horror: confronts the unknown or supernatural to evoke fear (e.g., The Shining, The Conjuring).
Alternate History: explores “what if…?” versions of the past (e.g., The Watchmen, The Man in the High Castle).
Dystopian & Utopian Fiction: imagines societies gone wrong or perfected (e.g., The Hunger Games, The Maze Runner).
Whether set in other worlds or just beyond tomorrow, speculative fiction invites readers to question reality, possibility, and the human condition.
